3) Consonant families (with all vowel combos)
How the combos work
- Bare consonant (with halant): k → क्
- Inherent “a”: ka → क
- Long “aa”: kaa → का
- “i”: ki → कि | “ee”: kee → की
- “u”: ku → कु | “oo”: koo → कू
- “ri”: kri → कृ
- “e/ai/o/au”: ke/kai/ko/kau → के/कै/को/कौ
Core stops, nasals, etc.
ka → कkha → खga → गgha → घnga → ङ
ca → क (alias)cha → चchha → छja → जjha → झ
yna → ञTa → टTha → ठDa → डDha → ढNa → ण
ta → तtha → थda → दdha → धna → न
pa → पpha → फba → बbha → भma → म
ya → यra → रla → लva/wa → व
sa → सsha → शSha → षha → ह
Conjuncts / special consonants
ksha → क्ष
xa → क्स
gya → ज्ञ
Nepala → नेपाल
qa → क (alias)
Using the family pattern, you also get kshaa, kshi, kshee, kshu, kshoo, kshri, kshe, kshai, ksho, kshau…
4) Smart-tweak words (autocorrections)
When Smart tweaks is ON, these exact words auto-adjust before mapping:
cha/chu/chha → chha/chhu/chha
ma → ma
aba → aba
nam → naam
ram → raam
pani → pani
lai → laaii
pai → paaii
dai → daaii
bhai → bhaaii
General heuristics
- Word ending in y → becomes …ree before conversion
- cha/che/chu/cho after c+h → upgraded to chh… forms
- Final i after a non-vowel → becomes ee
- Safety exceptions (…ahh, …ank, …anh, …anr, …nard, …nart) left untouched
Use [ … ] to bypass these for a span, or / to force a break.
